WHAT IS NETWORKING?
It is Interconnected different computing devices that can exchange data and share resources with each other. These networked devices use a system of rules, called communications protocols, to transmit information over physical or wireless technologies.
Local Area Network (LAN): A LAN connects devices within a limited geographical area, such as a home, office building, or school campus. LANs typically use Ethernet cables or Wi-Fi to connect computers, printers, and other devices.
Wide Area Network (WAN): A WAN spans a large geographical area, connecting multiple LANs or other networks across cities, countries, or continents. The internet is the largest example of a WAN, but WANs can also be created using private connections such as leased lines or virtual private networks (VPNs).
Wireless LAN (WLAN): A WLAN is a type of LAN that uses wireless communication technologies such as Wi-Fi to connect devices without the need for physical cables. WLANs are commonly used in homes, offices, and public spaces to provide wireless internet access.
Metropolitan Area Network (MAN): A MAN covers a larger geographic area than a LAN but smaller than a WAN, typically spanning a city or metropolitan area. MANs are often used by businesses, government agencies, and educational institutions to connect multiple locations within a city.
